Is it too dry to burn?

If you live outside of the City of Casselton, check the Burn Ban page if you plan to burn a crop field (i.e. cornstalks), a tree pile, etc. and notify Red River Regional Dispatch via telephone call at 701-451-7660.

Can I have a burn barrel in Casselton?

It is illegal to burn trash with city limits regardless if a burning ban is present or not. For example, burning trash in a barrel in an alley is not allowed. Contact the City of Casselton office with any questions.

Can I have a campfire?

Recreational fires are allowed within city limits provided there is no burning ban, the fire is in an approved container, the fire is never left unattended, the fire is at least 15 feet from buildings or other structures, and there is a means of extinguishing the fire ready if needed (garden hose, fire extinguisher, etc.).
