The Casselton Fire Department is a volunteer organization providing fire and rescue service to the Casselton Fire District. The district lies completely within Cass County, North Dakota and is comprised of the Amenia, Berlin, Casselton, Durbin, Empire, Everest, Gill, Harmony, Maple River, Rush River, Walburg, and Wheatland townships.

A dedicated team of 30 volunteers provide protection to an area covering 378 square miles, 12 townships, 3200 citizens, and 33 miles of interstate highway.

Firefighters are dispatched via pager message to an average of 90 runs each year by the Red River Regional Dispatch Center. The department is funded by a city budget, township service contracts, and the state insurance rebate.

The department currently operates seven fire apparatus from it's 7100 sq ft facility. The equipment consists of a 2002 Central States-International tanker-pumper, a 1993 Cayel Craft-International rescue truck, a 1983 Mack 2750 gallon pumper-tanker, a 1981 Mack 2700 gallon pumper-tanker, a 1964 American Fire-Ford pumper, a 1959 Howell-Ford pumper-tanker, a 2006 Chevrolet four wheel drive brush rig, and a 1979 Jeep four wheel drive brush rig.

  • Interested candidates and the public are welcome.

Training sessions

  • Location: Various (meet at the fire hall)
  • Date: The second calendar Tuesday after the last meeting Click for training dates
  • Time: 7:00 p.m.
  • Only members and trainees may participate.
