SWAT 6
The Casselton Fire Department sold SWAT 6, a 1953 Dodge M-37 3/4 ton, four wheel drive truck, in July 2008.
SWAT 6 was the department's first wildland vehicle. The vehicle was obtained through the North Dakota Forest Service "excess equipment" program and was adapted to wildland duty by adding a tank, pump, and hose reel.
SWAT 6 was placed in service in 1985 and removed from service in the early 90's after being replaced by a Jeep brush truck and a Chevrolet brush truck. It has been stored in a firefighter's machine shed and was only run on an occasional basis after that time. The steel water tank, pump, hose reel, and red emergency lights were not included in the sale package. Alan Runck, a long-time Casselton firefighter and state-wide training officer, prepared and delivered the vehicle to its new owner Ken Cramer. Ken, a local Army vehicle restorer, plans to restore the truck to its original Army configuration and will provide a good home for dependable SWAT 6.
